I'm a regular gym goer but cellulite is something that most, if not all women have to deal with at some point. Cellulite takes no prisoners, slim or curvy even Serena Williams, one of the most famous atheletes in the world even has a case of the orange peel effect. It's nothing to be ashamed of but it's definitely something we can get a grip on and take control of.
Whenever I talk about Dry Body Brushing I am always amazed at how little people know about it, some have never even heard of it at all. That's why I'm sharing with you this fantastic, fast, effective, cheap, health boosting little tip that has worked for me.
So what is dry body brushing?
They've probably caught your eye before in your local drug store, those small circular wooden paddle with soft but firm bristles on the other side are what I'm talking about. Think of them as cousin to the Loofah. Now it may just look like a posh shoe brush but it is so much more than that. These firm bristles work as a detox agent to remove dead skin cells and promotes circulation.
Everyday after a shower I dedicate about 5-10 minutes to body brushing. My thighs are my main focus but I brush the entire body, starting at the ankles and making my way up. You should always brush up towards the heart, never down - the lymphatic fluid flows through the body towards the heart so you need to go the same direction. The best bit is you don't have to brush vigourously - the bristles do the work for you.
After I've brushed to my hearts content I apply my Matis Smoothing Cellulite Cream all over my body. This cream does exactly what is says and breaks down cellulite which makes it the perfect product to accompany my brushing addiction. The cream costs £36 for 200ml which seems to last me ages!
Where can I get one?
I picked my brush up from the Botanics range in Boots for about £8 and it's the perfect size to fit my petite palm underneath the strap. If you're a feeling extra sassy, Boots also sell a Champneys branded brush for £10! Super affordable!
