OK here we are, officially the first day of Summer, not that the suns shining here in the UK at the moment, more like dull and rainy but nonetheless we are on our way! The blogs, the magazines, the articles have been full of prep, prep, prep for months, but some of us will only now be booking in for our Summer prep, ready for an amazing vacation season. Out come those itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny bikinis and short-shorts and it’s time for us to visit the local salon to transform our winter hibernating selves into the stunning jet set. A fabulous time for salon owners everywhere, salons busy and busting at the seams!
Hydrate your body in and out, up your water intake to cope with the (hopefully) hotter weather, dehydrated skin is wrinkly skin and water is your internal moisturiser. A basic tip? maybe but one that’s easy to forget. Recommendation is at least 8 glasses of water daily. Top tip is to use a fruit infusing water bottle for a lovely hint of ‘fresh anything’ (around £4-5).
Exfoliate all over, book in to your local salon, for a full body exfoliation to stimulate blood flow, creating gorgeously healthy looking skin, sloughing off all those dead skin cells and perhaps finish with a spray tan (if that’s your thing) and you’ll be on your way to looking fab.
Down to the Nitty Gritty
Unwanted hair, yes we all need to deal with it. Waxing of legs, bikini and armpits is a must, takes minutes but lasts for 3 weeks or so before re-growth and is the most popular treatment in a salon, so don’t be shy, the therapists have seen it all before, believe me. If you’re a regular you’ll most likely be getting your eyebrows done too.
If losing weight is your goal and you’ve left it late to start a diet, why not start juicing? Switch out breakfast for a healthy fruit and veggie smoothie. Super nutritious and delicious at the same time, with the added benefit of being low in calories and surprisingly you will not be hungry. You may just like them too. Start moving more and eating less and you’ll be onto a winner, dropping dress sizes, doesn’t need to be full on time consuming gym workouts, just gentle exercise and count your steps.
Plane Old Legs
Depends how long the flight is really, but everyone tends to get tired legs from the plane, we advise doing those exercises on the flight card for your legs, to keep the blood flowing. A fabulous pick me up for tired, achy legs is Tonic Leg Gel from Matis, with menthol and camphor. It stimulates the micro-circulation, will revive and cool down those heavy legs, leaving you refreshed and ready to take on the destination.
Prep those Pinkies
Get the reds, corals, pinks and oranges at the ready, we are feeling summery! Get a pedicure at the salon for the best, long lasting results. This will remove any hard skin on the feet, ready for perfect flip flop and sandal wear. Remember the matching fingernails need to sparkle too of course, your therapist will be happy to oblige.
Locks & Lash But Not Least
Not forgetting a visit to the hair salon (phew we’re nearly there) to sort out your Summer tresses with cut, colour and extensions and finally as an added extra, glam up your look with the latest lashes, be it Classic, Russian layering, or Tahitian feathering, this will up your game to drop dead beach diva!
And we’re done so … Don’t Panic My Beauties!
And just because it would be rude not to, book a facial and a massage when you get there to help you relax and unwind. You’ll need it after that lot!!!
