During one of the busiest times of the year in the salon, why not boost your earnings by following our simple tips to become retail savvy around the festive season...
Display, Display, Display!
Customers usually have a pretty direct path in the salon. They walk over to the desk, potentially sit down and then are led to their chair/room by your staff. This means your products need to also be displayed along this path. Having a shelf over in the corner by the sink, won't attract everyone's attention and unfortunately a window display also only has a couple of seconds to make an impact. Try Placing them around your seating area, as while customers wait they tend to glance around, make them accessible so they can pick them up, read labels and see prices. Another great place is in the eye line of the styling chair or in the treatment room. Once in position ready for a treatment the client doesn't tend to move, so by having them easily in their eye line they have the entire treatment time to really make an impact.
Most clients come to your salon for advice and so wouldn't know what products to team together. By grouping ideas together and creating bundles, you are making this easy for them, saving their time and banishing any doubts the client may have.
Seasonal Ideas and Promotions
The obvious one to mention is Christmas, but we also celebrate the seasons too. Our skin and hair need different care through out the year, so why not help encourage clients to take heed by offering seasonal care packs on promotion. Have a seasonal display to both boost sales and help spread to festive joy!
Incense and using the products openly can help spread to aroma around the salon. Ever smelt a product and fell in love? Yes, we are all guilty of this and actively seek out the source. You can duplicate this in the salon.
Don't Be Afraid to Sell!
Remember ultimately retail isn't your main initiative so you shouldn't feel like your being pushy, simply offering an add on to the treatment they have already chosen. The therapist doing the treatment is the best person to advise as they can personalise the product choices . Don't worry, they can always say no.
